Dr Claire McLintock MBChB (Edin) FRACP, is an obstetric physician and haematologist at National Women’s Health, Auckland City Hospital. She specializes in providing care to women with medical problems in pregnancy and works as part of a multidisciplinary team who care for women with cardiac disease especially rheumatic heart disease, women with mechanical prosthetic heart valves and congenital heart disease.
Claire is President of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. She is Past-President of the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and NZ (2008-2010) and the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and NZ (2009-2011).
She has led a research team that studied pregnancy outcomes in women with rheumatic heart disease from across Aotearoa and Australia and had published a number of articles about management of anticoagulation in during pregnancy in women with prosthetic heart valves. She is an author for the American Society of Hematology’s guidelines on management of venous thromboembolism in pregnancy, published in November 2018.
In 2018 she received an international award for Contribution to Care of Pregnant women with Cardiac Disease.
Claire is married to John Reynolds, a NZ contemporary artist and the couple have two daughters, Hart and Vita.
